- Yan’an was once the seat of the Central Committee and the general rear of the Chinese people’s liberation struggle. Party Central Committee and Chairman Mao were very concerned about the health of the working people during their stay in Yan’ an. They always adhered to the party’ s leadership over health work, to the interests of the broad masses of the people, to the working principle of combining prevention with control, and they always insisted on seeking truth from facts and attaching equal importance to both Chinese and Western medicine, always adhered to the establishment and improvement of medical and health institutions at all levels, and gradually, a health work network was formed. Many valuable experiences accumulated at that time had a profound impact on the formulation of the party’s various health work policies. Today, it is necessary to keep in mind the mission, summarize the experience at that time, and build and develop the socialist health undertaking with Chinese characteristics
